Varsha Gaikwad as First Female President of Mumbai Congress

The All India Congress Committee made a new announcement regarding the president of Congress in Mumbai. AICC President Malikkarjun Kharge approved Varsha Gaikwad as president of Mumbai Congress. She is the first female president of Congress in Mumbai.

There were some internal disputes regarding the leadership of Bhai Jagtap. And looking at the upcoming BMC election, this prominent decision has been taken by Congress. Varsha Gaikwad is the face of the Dalit community. She has the large backing of Dalit people, which will ultimately help to keep the voting count for Congress.

Being a daughter of an MP and 4 times MLA Eknath Gaikwad, Varsha has a political background and has made her own position in the party. She served as an Education Minister recently in Maha Vikas Aghadi. Before that, in 2004-09, she was the Minister for Child and Women's Welfare. Her experience and great support of the Dalit community for her may help Congress to achieve victory in Mumbai.
