After a conquering victory of the Congress in the Karnataka assembly election, a new battle is going on in Karnataka for the post of CM. There are two main candidates of Congress competing for this post, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and 8th-time MLA, also the senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar. Picture is still not clear but both candidates said that the selected MLA’s will vote and the final decision will be made by Congress High Command.
Siddaramaiah was Chief Minister of Karanataka in 2013. During his era he really did a good job. Karnataka was under good governance during his period. He contested from the Varuna constituency and secured almost 60 % of vote shares. Talking about DK Shivakumar, he is a strong supporter as well as close to the Gandhi family, but his background may affect his game for CM post this time. He was charged with many corruption cases. There are high chances that Siddaramaiah will acquire the post but a new competitor might arise between these two. There are talks about Mallikarjun Kharge that he can also be the CM. Earlier DK Shivakumar told that he would like to work under Kharge’s governance.
The committee will soon take the decision to end this cold war kind of battle in the Karnataka government.
