The Congress Central leadership announced here on Thursday that veteran leader Siddaramaiah will be the next chief minister of Karnataka and that Pradesh Congress chief D K Shivakumar will be his deputy. This brought an end to five days of uncertainty regarding the leadership issue as a result of the party's overwhelming victory in the Assembly elections in the southern state. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal and AICC in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala stated that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge decided that Siddaramaiah, a former chief minister, would be the new leader of the state Congress Legislature Party (CLP) at a media briefing here following yet another joint meeting with Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. At a meeting of MLAs this evening in Bengaluru, he would be formally elected CLP leader.
Shivakumar would continue to lead the PCC until the next elections for the Lok Sabha, making him the only deputy chief minister. Saturday at 12:30 a.m. would see the swearing-in of the new Cabinet. According to Venugopal, the new chief minister, deputy chief minister, and a group of ministers would be sworn in on that day, and leaders of political parties with similar views would also be invited to the ceremony. The AICC general secretary cracked a joke when he was asked if the two rival Karnataka leaders, who were unwilling to relinquish their claim to the position of chief minister, had come up with a power-sharing plan. The people of Karnataka will be the ones to share power.
The assertion is critical since there is a hypothesis that Siddaramaiah will hold the post for 2.5 years and after that Shivakumar will take over as the main priest. Shivakumar's sibling and Congress MP freely expressed that he was not content with the choice of the central leadership. He said his sibling had acknowledged the choice in light of a legitimate concern for individuals of Karnataka. It has been learned that the former president of the Congress, Sonia Gandhi, played a significant role in persuading Shivakumar to accept the decision for the greater good of the party and the state's population.
Surjewala said the new Congress government in the state would satisfy the five promises it made to individuals of the state. " He added, "We will provide the state with an honest, transparent, stable, and accountable government." From 2013 to 2018, Siddaramaiah, who is also known by his nickname Siddu, was the state's chief minister. He is regarded as a mass leader, is adored by all segments of society in general, and serves as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged in particular. He was the Opposition Leader in the incoming Assembly and did a great job both inside and outside the House. Shivakumar, who began his political career as a student leader in the early 1980s, is regarded as a troubleshooter for Congress and has been extensively utilized by the party whenever it has encountered a crisis anywhere. He is credited with restoring the party in the state and taking it back into control.
