"Motto of Khelo India would remain a dream" Raj Thackeray in support of wrestlers

Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter on Wednesday to look into the legitimate complaints of the female wrestlers who have made allegations against BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.

"The motto of Khelo India would remain a dream if we allow a picture to be painted of the government that is indifferent to their grievances. I request you to look into this matter and bring out a solution," Raj Thackeray said.

Indian wrestlers are now considering their future actions after the authorities cleared their protesting locations shortly after their imprisonment on Sunday.

Wrestlers are calling for the detention of WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, whom they accuse of sexually harassing female wrestlers.

Sakshi, a Rio Olympic bronze medalist, posted a video on her Twitter account yesterday emphasizing that they were refusing to give up.

On the other hand, the Delhi Police firmly stated that wrestlers would not be permitted to protest at Jantar Mantar again in the future.

The Delhi Police detained renowned Indian Olympians Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik on Sunday after alleging that the athletes had broken the law. The move of Delhi Police against the wrestlers has sparked outrage among members of the sports community, including Javeline medalist Neeraj Chopra and former shooter Abhinav Bindra. In addition, opposition parties have criticized the Centre for failing to take action against Bhushan, who is also a Kaiserganj-based BJP MP.
