“Didn’t Deserve it”, says Diljit Dosanjh on his Historic Coachella Performance

Coachella 2023 was graced with Diljit Dosanjh's ‘dil-jeet’ performance with full ‘Punjabiyat’ donning in an all-black Kurta Pyjama and Turban. California's Coachella Valley was vibing and grooving on Punjabi beats for the first time. What a moment it was for Punjabi Music Fans and India!

While taking Punjabi Music International, Diljit however shared how he felt like he wasn't worthy of the prestigious opportunity. Speaking on The Ranveer Show, Diljit expressed that he is less talented as compared to other artists out there.

It was ‘God’s will’ and not my talent!

Raveer Allahbadia, better known as Beerbiceps, started his podcast with Diljit Dosanjh, introducing him, as "Hoga Bieber, Hoga Drake, Sada toh ae hi Bieber, ae hi Drake".

When asked about his historic appearance in the Coachella 2023, Diljit Dosanjh said, "It was a great experience. Although I wasn't a deserving candidate. I feel so. It was God's will. I knew it (Coachella) was big and for the first time, someone from India was going to perform there. It was a huge deal. I put my best effort into it.”

Quite surprisingly, he revealed that while it wasn't his dream to perform at Coachella, it was certainly on his checklist of things he wishes to do in his lifetime.

With extreme Modesty, he said how he didn’t ‘deserve’ this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. “I feel like I'm not that great a musician, but I end up getting good opportunities.”

Talking about his next release “Amar Singh Chamkila” where he plays the role of a Musician, he said, “ I haven't learnt acting from anywhere, yet I'm working with Imtiaz I had never imagined I'd do a film with him. Maybe it happened because of Chamkila. He gave me that chance. Imtiaz Ali signing Diljit Dosanjh isn't necessary. There are so many others whom he can hire.”
