The painting, titled Les Saules, Giverny, was painted in 1899 and depicts a scene of willow trees on the banks of the River Seine in Giverny, where Monet lived and worked for much of his life.

The painting is one of a series of paintings that Monet painted of the same scene at different times of day and seasons. It is considered to be one of Monet's finest works and is highly sought-after by collectors.

The auction house Ader, which is selling the painting, said that it is expected to fetch between $2.42 million and $3.22 million. However, it is possible that the painting could sell for even more, given its rarity and provenance.
