Fans were astonished and thrilled when a former Miss Argentina and a previous Miss Puerto Rico unexpectedly announced their marriage on Instagram. Mariana Varela of Argentina and Fabiola Valentín of Puerto Rico shared an Instagram video toasting their relationship after two years together.
"After deciding to keep our relationship private, we're opening up the doors to you on a special day," they captioned their announcement and included the date 28/10/22 and a heart and ring emoji in the caption. Moments from their time spent together, such as their travel, their cuddles, and their marriage proposal with gold and silver balloons spelling out, “Marry me?” were included in the video. On October 28, the couple is viewed in the post's significant image standing in front of San Juan's city courthouse where the pair exchanged vows in a courtroom in Puerto Rico dressed in white.
On Instagram, the post has more than 3 million views, 10,000 comments, and more than 3 lakh likes. Celebrities and fans congratulated the newlyweds on their union. "Omg congratulations MGI brought together a beautiful union," Ghanaian singer and beauty pageant winner Abena Akuaba commented. Another supporter wrote, "congratulations!!! May you be very very happy."
Yet another user commented, "W O O W! Many congratulations, I hope you have all the happiness you deserve. Long live love."
In response to the comments, Ms Varela expressed her gratitude. "Thanks for all the love! We are very happy and blessed. I wish you that the love you are giving us is multiplied! Endless thanks."
According to NBC News, the couple seems to have connected while competing in Thailand's Miss Grand International contest. Both of them were among the Top 10. In Argentina and Puerto Rico, same-sex unions are permitted since 2015 as a result of an order by the US Supreme Court.
