The Diwali sale just ended and to his utmost shock, a Mangalore shopper who ordered a gaming laptop through Flipkart received a huge stone and e-waste in the delivery instead.
A Flipkart customer from Mangalore, Chinmaya Ramana, ordered a gaming laptop online during the Diwali Sale but received a stone along with some e-waste inside the delivery box. Ramana also claims to be a Flipkart member and posted pictures of the delivery box online claiming that he found garbage instead of the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 laptop. He shared the pictures of the package on Twitter.
Following the complaints regarding the Diwali delivery of packages, Flipkart has launched an ‘open delivery system’ where the customer can verify if the product has been delivered to them. Through this scheme, the customer receives an (OTP) One Time Password and verifies if the delivery has been made or not. However, in Chinmaya’s case, this option of an open box was not available. Hence he could not confirm if the delivery was his and he accepted the package.
He immediately informed Flipkart about the matter and even invoked a return request. At first, the seller denied his request saying that the product was shipped. But as the posts shared by Chinmaya got viral on Twitter, Flipkart took responsibility and compensated him with the entire amount. The customer then confirmed the compensation online.
E-commerce platforms have been gaining a wide range of attention, especially during the festive seasons. One can use options of ‘open box delivery’ that have been brought into the system to protect consumer interest while they shop online, especially during peak seasons.
