Did you know that about 20,000 people of African origin live in India today? Meet the Sidi community!

They came to India centuries ago through trade and slavery and settled in states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

While they speak local languages like Kannada and Konkani and live just like any other Indian, their African roots are still visible!

They even gave India historic marvels like the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque and Murud Janjira Fort. Now, the youth of this community are working hard to win medals for India in sports and athletics.
