Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has unveiled a comprehensive list of railway vacancies categorized by zones and posts. The railway department has identified a total of 2,48,895 vacancies in Group C posts across all zones of the Railway, while Group A & B posts have 2,070 vacant positions. These details were shared in response to a query in the Rajya Sabha.

Anticipating the upcoming recruitment drive, the Indian Railways recruitment website has announced the imminent release of more than 2.4 lakh vacancies. These positions will primarily target Safety staff, Assistant Station Masters (ASM), Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), and Ticket Collectors (TC).

The Indian Railway Board traditionally releases recruitment notifications divided into distinct groups: Gazetted, comprising Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ posts, and Non-Gazetted, encompassing Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts.

Outlined below are the various positions along with their corresponding educational prerequisites for each group:

Group A: This category encompasses roles filled through competitive exams conducted by UPSC, including the Civil Service Exam, Engineering Service Exam, and Combined Medical Service Examination.

Group B: Group B posts involve Section Officers Grade positions, elevated roles from Group ‘C’ railway employees on a deputation basis.

Group C: Under Group C, a diverse array of roles exists, including Station Master, Ticket Collector, Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, Safety staff, Traffic Apprentice, and various Engineering posts (Electrical, Signal & Telecommunication, Civil, Mechanical), among others.

Group D: Group D includes positions such as Track-man, Helper, Assistant Points Man, Safaiwala / Safaiwali, Gunman, Peon, and a variety of other roles across different cells and boards within the railway department.

Application Process for Railways Jobs 2023:

1. Navigate to the official Indian Railway website: "indianrailways.gov.in".
2. Choose your preferred RRB Region, RRC, or metro rail option.
3. Select the specific region or department for which you wish to apply.
4. Navigate to the recruitment section and thoroughly review the provided notification.
5. Complete the online application form with accuracy.
6. Note that an Aadhar Card is a mandatory requirement for railway job applications.
7. Make the necessary payment for the application fees and then click the ‘Submit’ button.
8. Ensure to save or print a copy of your submitted application for future reference.
