Maharashtra's Health Minister, Tanaji Sawant, announced on Monday that around 11,000 vacancies in the C and D categories at various government hospitals and healthcare institutions will be filled soon, as reported by ANI.
Minister Sawant confirmed that the government will soon fill 10,949 vacancies for nurses, and technical and non-technical staff in categories C and D across healthcare facilities.
It was previously reported that the recruitment process for certain positions, which were supervised by Health Minister Rajesh Tope, was halted temporarily due to allegations of irregularities. Currently, there are 60 job roles within C and D categories that need to be filled, including nurses, technical staff, and non-technical staff. The state's initiative aims to fill almost all vacancies in these categories at government hospitals. Additionally, the recruitment process will be overseen by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), according to the Health Minister.
The Public Health Department of Maharashtra plans to establish a toll-free helpline number, 115, that will cater to medical emergencies at home in the state. Tanaji Sawant has disclosed that the proposal is to be presented to the state cabinet for approval. The helpline, when it becomes operational, will offer citizens free medical assistance from doctors at their doorstep in times of emergencies. It will especially benefit senior citizens, people who live alone, and other patients who are critically ill. The 115 helpline is an ambitious project that aims to meet the healthcare needs of the state. The state government fully supports this initiative, and the launch is expected to happen soon, as stated by Sawant on August 20, according to HT.
