Homegrown grocery delivery provider Dunzo, which has been unable to raise funds, is delaying salaries for its employees and will now pay them in batches. In a recent development, it has been reported that the rapid grocery delivery service provider has encountered yet another setback in disbursing salaries to its workforce, despite their initial plan to commence payments on September 4th.
In an email communication to employees, Dunzo explained that due to specific procedural necessities, they are required to disburse salaries in batches, which may result in a slight delay of an additional day or two before everyone's payments are processed. The company's email stated that due to certain administrative procedures, they will be processing salaries in batches. This may cause a delay of one or two days for everyone to receive their salaries. However, they assured employees that they would receive their August 2023 salaries within this week.
Last month, there were reports about Dunzo postponing salary payments to the first week of October due to challenges in securing funding. Initially, the startup had promised to disburse salaries on September 4, a shift from the initial date of July 20, as reported by Money Control.
In August, Dunzo was said to be in advanced negotiations to raise approximately $80-100 million in its Series G funding round, with participation from its current investors like Lightbox and Lightrock. Reports suggest that this funding round is primarily composed of equity investments and might include a minor debt component.
