Amazon's music division faces job cuts in latest round of layoffs

Amazon.com has officially initiated staff reductions within its Music division, marking the latest chapter in a series of job cuts that have affected over 27,000 employees in the past year.

As per reports, the announcement of layoffs was made on a Wednesday, impacting employees across Latin America, North America, and Europe.

While an Amazon spokesperson confirmed the layoffs, they opted not to disclose the precise number of employees affected.

The spokesperson stated, “We have been closely monitoring our organizational needs and prioritizing what matters most to customers and the long-term health of our businesses.

Some roles have been eliminated on the Amazon Music team. We will continue to invest in Amazon Music.”

It's worth noting that there haven't been any recent mass layoff filings in significant employee centers such as Washington state, California, or New York.

This is despite Amazon reporting a third-quarter net income that exceeded analyst estimates and forecasting revenue for the final quarter of the year in line with expectations.

The fourth quarter holds particular significance for Amazon due to the holiday shopping season.

Amazon has been discreetly streamlining its workforce, including communication staff in its Studios, Video, and Music divisions in the previous month.

Amazon Music, which also offers podcasts, is in direct competition with platforms like Spotify, YouTube Music, and Apple Music, providing unlimited music streaming services for a fee.
