In a heartbreaking event, an Indian-origin couple, Tej Pratap Singh, 43, and Sonal Parihar, 42, along with their two young children, a 10-year-old son and a 6-year-old, were tragically found deceased in their Plainsboro residence in New Jersey, USA. The Plainsboro Police Department has initiated a homicide investigation following the discovery of their bodies, which occurred sometime after 4:30 pm on Wednesday, as announced by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Eamon Blanchard of the Plainsboro Police Department on Thursday.
On the evening of October 4, authorities were prompted to conduct a welfare check at the Plainsboro residence following a 911 call. Upon their arrival, the police discovered the four victims in the house. Currently, autopsies are being conducted and the investigation is underway. However, based on the initial findings, it appears that there is no immediate threat to public safety.
Mayor Peter Cantu and Chief Eamon Blanchard, Director of Public Safety, expressed their deep condolences for the loss, emphasizing that the Plainsboro community has undergone an indescribable tragedy. They reassured the community that this was an isolated incident and that there were no additional safety concerns associated with this occurrence.
The family's residence on Titus Lane is currently cordoned off with crime scene tape, as shown in footage from News 12 New Jersey. The discovery was brought to light when a concerned relative requested a welfare check. Currently, authorities are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide. The news has come as a surprise to relatives, who noted that Singh and Parihar appeared to be a happy couple.
Singh showed great dedication to the community and held the esteemed role of Lead APIX Engineer at Ness Digital Engineering. Both Singh and Parihar had successful careers in the IT sector, with experience in Human Resources as well. The school district expressed their heartfelt condolences to parents, conveying immense sadness regarding the tragic incident involving the children.
According to available records, it appears that Singh and Parihar acquired their residence in August 2018 for a sum of USD 635,000. The family is described by their neighbours as friendly and often seen peacefully walking along the serene street. A long-time acquaintance, who wishes to remain anonymous, has known the family for more than ten years. She mentioned that her daughter used to meet the 6-year-old girl at the bus stop every day for their school commute. On the day in question, the absence of the girl was noticeable and raised concerns. Despite making attempts to contact Parihar, the neighbour did not receive any response. This unexpected turn of events has deeply saddened and shocked the entire community
