Donald Trump, a former US president, made his first post on X, previously Twitter after the social media company reintroduced his account last year. Following his arrest in the Georgia election subversion case, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office previously published a mug shot of Trump.
A first for a US president, Trump also posted a link to his fundraising website along with his mug shot.
“Today, at the notoriously violent jail in Fulton County, Georgia, I was ARRESTED despite having committed NO CRIME,” Trump said in a statement.
“The American people know what’s going on. What has taken place is a travesty of justice and ELECTION INTERFERENCE.”
Trump, in a post on X, shared the mugshot with the caption "Never surrender". His mugshot, which includes details like his height (6'3"), weight (97 kg), and hair color ("Blonde or Strawberry"), was made public soon after his arrest.
Trump stated, he entered a "lion's den" with the simple message, "I will never surrender to save America."
Elon Musk, the owner of the social media company, responded with "Next-level" to Trump's tweet on X.
On Thursday, Trump was formally taken into custody at the Fulton County Jail on accusations of racketeering and conspiracy before being released on a $200,000 bond. He is charged with conspiring with 18 other defendants to interfere with Georgia's 2020 election.
