The Wikimedia Foundation, which owns the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, was fined $24,525 by a Moscow court on Thursday for failing to take down what the court referred to as "fake information" about Russia's military actions in Ukraine.
As part of its campaign to stifle independent news sources, Moscow has struck the Wikimedia Foundation with a number of fines. Wikimedia has previously stated that the information about which the Russian government has complained was properly sourced and adhered to Wikipedia standards.
