Pakistan Appoints First Female Hindu Civil Servant

Pakistan appoints first female Hindu civil servant

Pakistan has appointed its first Hindu female civil servant in the form of Dr. Sana Ramchand Gulwani. The 27-year-old doctor, who hails from Shikarpur city in Sindh province, graduated and became a doctor to fulfill her parents' wishes before enrolling in the Federal Public Service Commission.

Gulwani then cleared the Central Superior Services (CSS) exam in 2020 with flying colors and became the first woman from the Hindu community to join the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS). She assumed charge as the assistant commissioner and administrator of Hassanabdal city in the Attock district last week, becoming the first Hindu female civil servant in Pakistan's history.

Hindus form the biggest minority community in the country and the majority of Pakistan's Hindu population is settled in Sindh province.
