Longest cooking marathon record: Irish chef, Alan Fisher cooks for over 119 hours

In a culinary feat that left the world astonished, Alan Fisher, the Irish chef based in Japan, shattered not one but two Guinness World Records.

Spending an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes in a non-stop cooking extravaganza at his Irish-themed restaurant in Matsue, Fisher surpassed the previous record holder, Hilda Baci from Nigeria, by a whopping 24 hours.

But Fisher didn't stop there; he went on to break the record for the longest baking marathon, outdoing Wendy Sandner of the US. The baking marvel lasted for an impressive 47 hours and 21 minutes.

Remarkably, Fisher seamlessly transitioned from one record to another, putting in a total of over 160 hours in the kitchen with just a bit more than a day's rest in between.

Sharing his journey with Guinness World Records, Fisher expressed, "Records are made to be broken but for today at least, I can hold both simultaneously. So many sleepless nights, early mornings, anxieties, and financial stress to keep the business alive. Just head down and persevere. Breaking these records is a fitting way to share our story and create a little awareness about the Irish connection here in Matsue."

Making it 160 hours in the kitchen. Nahhh, he's too good." Another user jokingly exclaimed, "Is this a joke? We are coming for Alan Fisher. Congrats to him though."

Yet another user pointed out the gender categories, noting, "He won under the male category, and Hilda Baci won under the female category. Congratulations to Alan Fisher."
