Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon intensified overnight as most of the attacks focused on the southern suburbs of Beirut. Over 2,000 people have been killed by the ongoing Israeli attacks across the country so far, reports Lebanon's Health Ministry. The dead include 127 children and 261 women, said the ministry. The increasing air attacks have forced hundreds of thousands of civilians out of their homes in Beirut, while are looking for safety
Lebanon's Healthcare at Risk
The attacks, which have been widely condemned by Lebanese health officials for carrying out indiscriminate attacks on emergency rescuers and civilians, have strained Lebanon's already fragile healthcare system to its breaking point. Lebanon's health minister said that the infrastructure of the country's healthcare is on the brink of a collapse due to circumstances it cannot recover from in terms of mounting casualties.
Trump Urges Israel to Strike Iran's Nuclear Sites
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Friday that Israel should attack Iran's nuclear facilities in response to recent missile strikes. During a campaign event in North Carolina, Trump mentioned a question that was asked to President Joe Biden earlier this week about Israel’s possible actions against Iran's nuclear program. "When they asked him that question, the answer should have been to hit the nuclear sites first, and deal with everything else later," Trump stated.
The strikes inflicted casualties on at least 37 people and wounded more than 150 Thursday alone, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry. The ministry condemns the attacks in its statement as they target exclusively civilians and rescue workers. Israeli air raids have targeted the southern suburb of Dahiyeh in Beirut on Thursday, and the attacks were conducted in way that used powerful bunker-buster bombs in targeting civilian infrastructure, marking a level of destruction never before seen in the area. Destruction of buildings among civilians has sparked tension, as most people fear the continuation of violence.
