Israel-Gaza war Update: Israel launches 'Significant' strikes in Gaza & More

Israel launches 'Significant' strikes in Gaza

With soldiers battling Hamas fighters in the confined region, Israel launched "significant" strikes on Gaza today.

Israeli army spokesman, Jonathan Conricus told CNN, "We are striking Hamas, and we are going stronghold after stronghold, according to our plan, in a systematic effort to dismantle Hamas from its military capabilities."

"We have troops on the ground; infantry, armour, combat engineers. They are striking and they are also directing fire from the air," he further stated, that the "underground infrastructure" network of Hamas tunnels is the main target of efforts.

Iran backed Hezbollah warning as Israel escalates strikes in Lebanon

According to Lebanese authorities, three children and their grandmother were murdered when Israel struck a car in the country's south.

However, in reaction to a missile attack against tanks that claimed the life of an Israeli citizen, the IDF launched an operation on "terrorist targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon," according to Israel's top military spokesman.

In response, Hezbollah claimed to have fired missiles into the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona. The group, which is backed by Iran, declared that it would respond to attacks on civilians with "firm and strong" measures and that it would never tolerate such attacks.

UN agency chiefs demand Gaza ceasefire: 'Enough Is Enough'

A rare joint statement from the leaders of all main UN agencies expressed outrage over the number of civilian deaths in Gaza and called for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" to stop the escalation between Hamas and Israel.

In order to aid Gaza's besieged people while Israel assaults with the declared intention of destroying Hamas, the UN leaders declared that additional food, water, medicine, and fuel must be allowed into the region.

In Gaza, the UN statement said, “An entire population is besieged and under attack, denied access to the essentials for survival, bombed in their homes, shelters, hospitals and places of worship. This is unacceptable.”

“For almost a month, the world has been watching the unfolding situation in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory in shock and horror at the spiralling numbers of lives lost and torn apart,” the UN chiefs added.

“We need an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. It’s been 30 days. Enough is enough. This must stop now,” the statement said.
