If you remember, the Taliban have stopped female students above 6th class from being able to study.
This measure caused worldwide outrage. Many human rights activists stepped up and spoke against the Taliban.
Well, now Taliban ministers have stated that universities are open to female students, once their leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada agrees to allow women to study.
Afghanistan’s higher education minister, Nida Mohammed Nadim, has stated that the ban was a ‘temporary’ ban, which was taken to avoid the ‘mixing of genders’.
Another adviser at the Higher Education Ministry, Molvi Abdul Jabbar stated that when and if female students are allowed to study, they will be taking extreme precautions to not fraternize between male and female students.
He stated, “Everything is ready in advance, whether it’s school or university studies. It may be that the (start) times are different, boys in the morning and in the afternoon there will be girls. Or there will be girls in the morning and boys in the afternoon.”
