A 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines on Thursday, according to the US Geological Survey. No fatalities or significant damage were reported.Shortly after 2 a.m., or 1800 GMT, the powerful and shallow earthquake struck just off the coast of Masbate province in the center of the archipelago nation.
According to the USGS, the epicentre was located 11 kilometers (seven miles) away from the coastal village of Miaga in the Uson municipality of Masbate. People were jolted awake by the powerful, shallow quake, which occurred shortly after 2:00 am local time
