To celebrate International Women’s day, Zomato took a positive step towards Inclusivity by giving Women Delivering Partners the option to choose for ‘Red Kurtas’ instead of Red T-Shirt, the standard uniform of Zomato.
Zomato made this decision after receiving feedback from female employees who expressed discomfort with the standard western-style Zomato t-shirts. The company stressed the significance of offering options to its employees. Some delivery partners felt uneasy in their usual attire and resorted to wearing them over traditional sarees or suits, causing discomfort throughout their workday.
In a post on LinkedIn, Zomato shared a video and wrote "Starting today, Zomato women delivery partners can choose to wear a kurta." The video featured several Zomato delivery women trying on the new kurtas offered by the company and participating in what appeared to be a celebratory photoshoot. The video captured their expressions of gratitude and approval for the company's thoughtful gesture.
Adding to the excitement, The kurtas come with a handy feature: deep pockets on both sides. These pockets are not just practical; they're also beautifully embroidered, blending functionality with style for women.
"Many female delivery partners expressed discomfort with the western-style Zomato t-shirts. So, we gave them a choice," Zomato specified. After wearing the kurta, one of the 'happy' women said, "Pocket bhi hain (It has pockets too)."
