The Odisha government announced additional benefits on Tuesday for women employees working in various government offices across the state. The announcement states that female employees would now receive an extra 10 days of paid time off each year.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) made a formal notification today. Currently, government workers are entitled to fifteen days of unpaid time off annually. Following the declaration, women government employees will be eligible for 25 days of casual leave, with an additional 10 days every year.
The state administration made the declaration in light of the household duties and other issues that female employees of the government confront. It is important to note that in the 1990s, Odisha became the first state to establish a 33 percent reservation for government positions.
The Odisha government recently stated that staff members at various non-government-aided educational institutions would receive 15 days of casual leave annually. In addition, female block grant employees are entitled to 180 days of paid maternity leave for each of their first two live deliveries.
The move, according to government representatives, will help roughly 33,420 workers, including teaching and non-teaching personnel, who work in 2,560 new aided high schools, 940 upper primary schools, and 138 madrasas throughout the state.
