25 people died in a road accident on Saturday, 1 July on Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway. The bus travelling from Nagpur to Pune caught fire when it headed into collision with a divider and then crashed on a pole. Its tyre burst. The driver couldn’t control the sudden pressure. Everything happened so immediately that only the driver, cleaner and 2-3 passengers managed to come off of the bus.
The incident took place near Sindkhedraja in Buldhana from around 1:30 to 2 am. Till the fire brigade came, enough damage had already occurred. A total of 33 passengers were travelling on the bus. Among them, 25 died and others are injured. Injured are at nearby Civic Hospital of Buldhana. Right after the incident, Buldhana SP took charge of the case.
CM Eknath Shinde took note of this mishap and announced compensation from CM’s relief fund. Rs. 5 lakh ex gratia will be given to families of 25 deceased. CM ordered to provide expenses for injured people for treatment. He also ordered Buldhana SP to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed his condolences to the deceased.
