Vygr Maharashtra: Badlapur recorded highest rainfall in Thane district

Rain arrived late in Thane, Mumbai district, now about to cross the average for the month of June. For the last 2-3 days, there has been continuous rain in Thane district. And therefore, Badlapur city recorded the highest ever rainfall, 273mm in the last 24 hours. It is marked as the highest rainfall in the entire Thane district.

Right below Badlapur, 257 mm of rain was recorded in Bhiwandi, 231 mm in Mumbra and 206 mm in Thane City.

Continuous rain in the district will help to fill the water reservoirs and dams which supply water to different cities. The biggest dam in the district, 'Barvi' dam, supplies water to the entire district and some regions in Navi Mumbai. This dam is in Badlapur, so the continuous rain in the city will help to increase the water level in the dam.

Apart from this, there might be a situation of waterlogging due to heavy rainfall. Every year heavy rain leads the Ulhas river in the district to cross its regular level, which creates a deluge in many areas. If it keeps raining in Thane, there are chances that the river may cross danger level.
