Vygr Maharashtra: Approval of Dharavi land to MMRCL for Metro line 3

The state has decided to handover 33,000 sq feet of land to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) for the ongoing work of Metro Line 3. Previously, this land was under the authority of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority, but later on, the state approved this land to MMRCL for complimentary activities of the project.

MMRCL needs this land to construct Dharavi Metro station on the underground Metro Line 3 from Aarey to Cuffe Parade. The underground station of this 33km long Metro Line will be between Dharavi and Road Bridge at T junction.

This land was already handed over to MMRCL by MMRDA but it needed on-paper approval, which it received recently. MMRCL has already constructed an electric substation on this land.

The underground station on this land will connect the slum to the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Dharavi will emerge as an integrated town soon and this Metro line 3 project on Dharavi land is a significant step in the development of the Dharavi slum area.
