The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange signal for Monday, cautioning of heavy rainfall at isolated sites and the potential for very heavy rainfall at select locations. This comes after a three-day deluge that lowered the state's rain deficit from 71.2% to 57.3%. On June 27th, 28th, and 29th, there will likely be heavy rain in certain remote areas, which could affect daily life and infrastructure. The state has received 313 mm of rainfall since the beginning of the monsoon, less than the typical average of 733.6 mm. Rainfall totaled 61.2mm on Sunday, with Canacona recording the highest amount (118.2) ever recorded.
50 mm of rainfall was recorded in Sanguem, Mapusa, Sankhali, Ponda, Panaji, and Quepem. According to the IMD's long-range weather projection, Goa will have a protracted wet spell through July 6 due to the extra rainfall. Areas with a shortage of water will benefit from this, but there is also a chance that localised flooding and other weather-related problems will increase. During this extended rainy season, it is urged that both residents and authorities exercise caution. Precautionary measures, such as adequate drainage management, monitoring water levels, and awareness of regions that are prone to landslides, are essential to ensuring everyone's safety and wellness.
