Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat got involved in a car accident in Udham Singh Nagar district and sustained minor injuries. Some media reports suggest that Harish Rawat suffered minor neck injuries during the incident and also expressed discomfort due to chest pain.
As per reports, The accident occurred while Rawat, sitting at the front seat in the car, was travelling from Haldwani to Kashipur with some of his party workers late at night on Tuesday, 24 October, for a scheduled press conference in Kashipur on Wednesday. Other than Harish Rawat, his colleagues Ajay sharma and Kamal Rawat were also in the car and have suffered mild injuries too.
The driver was said to have lost control of the car while overtaking another vehicle near the Bazpur railway crossing, resulting in a collision with a divider, causing damage to the car.
The accident is said to have occurred at approximately 12:05 am. Rawat and colleagues received initial treatment at Bazpur Community Health Center (CHC); they were then referred to Kashipur's Higher Center.
Circle officer (CO) of the police, BS Bhandari, provided details of the accident, stating that they received the alert and reached the scene, after which Police transported Rawat to KVR Hospital in Kashipur. After primary medical treatment, he spent his night at Hotel Ananya in Kashipur.
Mr. Rawat later posted in Hindi on X (Previously known as Twitter), explaining that he had mild injuries and had gone to the hospital for an initial medical treatment, where doctors confirmed he was fine and discharged him. He reassured everyone that he and his colleagues were okay.
