Two Soldiers Killed as Kulgam Operation Enters Ninth Day

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, two Indian Army personnel lost their lives and two others sustained injuries during an overnight exchange of fire with militants. The clash took place as security forces pressed on with one of the Valley’s lengthiest anti-terror operations, now in its ninth day.

The Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed the deaths of Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, describing their sacrifice as a lasting source of inspiration. “Their courage and dedication will forever inspire us. The Indian Army extends its deepest condolences and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families,” the Corps stated on X.

The ongoing joint effort, involving the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, the CRPF, and the Special Operations Group, has so far resulted in the elimination of one militant. According to officials, troops maintained contact through the night, using precise fire to restrict the suspects’ movement. Elsewhere in the region, police in Baramulla discovered a militant hideout in the Gogaldara–Danwas forest, recovering a pistol, a grenade, ammunition and medical provisions. In a separate incident on 30 July, the Army’s White Knight Corps intercepted two armed operatives attempting to cross the Line of Control in Poonch, neutralising them on the spot.
