Uttarakhand govt signs Rs 2000 crore MoU for ropeway project investments

The Uttarakhand government and the Global Ropeway Construction Company, Poma Group signed an agreement worth 2,000 crore rupees in London. Vinay Shankar Pandey, secretary for industries in Uttarakhand, signed the agreement on behalf of the state.

According to Uttarakhand's chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, there is plenty of potential investment in the field of eco-friendly tourism given the state's geographical location.

The Poma Group has experience in Uttarakhand as a result of its involvement in the Auli ropeway in the state's Chamoli district. According to a government release, the business is also offering technical assistance for the Dehradun-Mussoorie and Yamunotri ropeway projects.

“The Poma Group has expressed its desire to invest in providing technical support for ropeway & establishing a Center of Excellence in many other religious and tourist places including Haridwar”, Dhami said.

According to Dhami, in addition to tourism, his government also strongly emphasises ecology and the economy. According to the chief minister, the state administration is looking for various investment avenues that strike a balance between development and the environment.

“In such a situation, on one hand, options like ropeway will provide convenience to the tourists in Uttarakhand, while on the other hand, it will prove to be better from the environmental point of view, along with increasing the livelihood opportunities of the local people”, the CM added.
