During the Global Investor Summit roadshow in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Uttarakhand government and JSW Neo Energy Limited inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for Rs. 15,000 crores.
Two pumped storages totalling 1500 MW would be built in Almora in accordance with the MoU that was signed in the presence of the chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Dhami planned collaboration in the state's Manaskhand Temple Mala under CSR, sports, training centre, drinking water, cement, pump storage plants, and Kumaon temple restoration and beautification. According to the MoU, JSW Energy plans to establish two 1500 MW self-identified pumped storage projects in Almora over the course of the following five to six years.
The scheme suggests a lower dam/reservoir at Site 1 in Joskote village of Almora, which is located 8–10 km from the Kosi River, and an upper reservoir at Site 2 in Kurchaun village of Almora, which is located 16 km from the Kosi river. This plan will supply a sizable population with drinking water and agricultural irrigation infrastructure. Additionally, this programme would offer job chances to 1,000 people, according to a statement from the Uttarakhand government.
JSW Energy Limited is amongst India’s leading private sector power-producing companies.
