Tushar Mehta reappointed as the Solicitor General

On Friday, senior attorney Tushar Mehta was reappointed for a three-year term as the Solicitor General of India. On October 10, 2018, Mr. Mehta was named solicitor general, and since then, he has received two extensions. Along with Mr. Mehta, six more solicitors general for the Supreme Court were also reappointed for a term of three years under a directive from the Department of Personnel and Training.

Vikramjit Banerjee, K. M. Nataraj, Balbir Singh, S. V. Raju, N. Venkataraman, and Aishwarya Bhati are the six ASGs who were reappointed to the top court. The list of re-appointed law officials does not include the names of Additional Solicitors General Madhavi Goradia Divan and Sanjay Jain, whose terms ended on Friday.

The list did not include Jayant K. Sud, a second solicitor general whose tenure expired on Thursday. Additional Solicitors General Chetan Sharma for the Delhi High Court, Satya Pal Jain for the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Devang Girish Vyas for the Gujarat High Court, and Krishna Nandan Singh for the Patna High Court have all been reappointed for another three-year term.
