Tibet: Xizang region hit with 4.2 magnitude earthquake today

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred in the Tibetan region of Xizang today, August 23. The earthquake struck at 00:16:41 Indian Standard Time (IST) and took place 10 km beneath the surface. In a tweet, NCS stated, "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.2, Occurred on 23-08-2023, 00:16:41 IST, Lat: 31.16 & Long: 95.32, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Xizang."

There hasn't been any news of casualties as of now. More information is awaited.

Previously, as a result of an earthquake that rocked Tibet early on 28 July, Arunachal Pradesh, an Indian hill state, saw a landslide and rockfall along National Highway 13.
