In a recent development, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has chosen to pursue legal action by approaching the Bombay High Court.
Thackeray's application, submitted on October 13 by advocate Rahul Arote, raises concerns regarding the appropriateness of the PIL. Before any decision is made on a public interest litigation (PIL) calling for a CBI inquiry into the tragic deaths of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager, Disha Salian, he asks for the chance to submit his case. The application questions the suitability of the PIL. He argues that the state machinery is already carrying out an investigation into the matter.
The PIL was initially filed in September by the 'Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India' under the leadership of Rashid Khan Pathan. This PIL requests the immediate arrest and custodial interrogation of Thackeray regarding the "mysterious" deaths of Disha Salian and Sushant Singh Rajput(SSR). It's important to mention that the High Court has not yet scheduled a hearing for this PIL. Arote, speaking on behalf of Thackeray, respectfully emphasizes the importance of their intervention application, suggesting that it is crucial for their voice to be considered before any decisions are taken. He restates that the PIL may not be sustainable, as there is already an ongoing CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput's case, and raises doubts about the necessity of additional measures when the state machinery is actively involved in the inquiry.
The PIL requests that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) consider investigating Thackeray, a former Maharashtra minister. It also asks for the submission of a comprehensive investigation report.
Sushant Singh Rajput's unfortunate passing on June 14, 2020, led to a series of investigations. At first, the Mumbai police filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and began an inquiry. Later, the case was handed over to the CBI, which is currently conducting the investigation. Furthermore, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is looking into allegations of money laundering involving Rhea Chakraborty and her family, while the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is examining claims of drug use by Rhea and her alleged role in supplying drugs to Rajput. Disha Salian, a former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput, unfortunately met an untimely demise on June 8, 2020, after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in suburban Malad. The city police also registered an ADR case in relation to her incident.
In conclusion, Aaditya Thackeray's legal move highlights his position on the ongoing investigations and raises the question of whether additional intervention is needed, considering that the state machinery is already actively involved in examining the circumstances surrounding these unfortunate deaths.
