What Happened?
The Sabarmati Express, travelling from Varanasi to Ahmedabad, derailed at around 2:29 am, just 30 minutes after leaving Kanpur Central station. The train's driver reported that a boulder hit the front of the engine, causing significant damage to the cattle guard.
The minister of railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, hit an object placed on the track and derailed." He added that the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Uttar Pradesh police are investigating the incident.
