Fake currency notes featuring actor Anupam Kher's face were seized by the Ahmedabad Police. Such counterfeit Rs 500 notes amounting to Rs 1.60 crore which bore the face of the actor instead of Mahatma Gandhi were recovered and the incident had gone viral on social media.
Fake Currency and Bollywood Twist
A fraud was unmasked in Ahmedabad after bullion businessman Mehul Thakkar was cheated of Rs 1.6 crore. A group of people showed interest in purchasing 2,100 grams of gold from Thakkar, following which his employee was handed a bag after the deal that was said to have Rs 1.3 crore in cash inside. However, what it contained was counterfeit notes of Rs 500 – complete with no one else but Anupam Kher's face instead of Mahatma Gandhi's. Police Commissioner Rajdeep Nukum claimed that the scam might have been taken out from an inspiration hit series 'Farzi,' the Shahid Kapoor-starrer that revolves around a currency counterfeit plot.
