Rebel Foods Will Run 150 Wendy's Restaurants

In an effort to increase its physical presence in India to 150 outlets, Wendy's Co. has reached an agreement with cloud kitchen operator Rebel Foods Ltd. The fast food giant is banking that when the pandemic fades, customers will return to public cafes.

Around two years after the firms struck a cloud kitchen deliveries-only agreement, Mumbai-based Rebel will become a master franchisee of the burger brand. The chain would benefit from the startup's most recent signing because of its digital distribution and automation skills, the two companies announced on Tuesday.

"India is a strategic, high-growth potential market for us” said Wendy's president for international development, Abigail Pringle.

In a nation that has quickly adopted international fast food brands, Wendy's and its competitors have made the adaptation process easier by tailoring their menus to the regional preferences. The Ohio-based company offers hot Masala Fries, a Paneer Delight Burger with cottage cheese, and a Spicy Aloo Crunch Burger with potatoes.
