Ratatouille, is that you? Papa Pancho apparently served rat meat instead of chicken

After a customer reported finding a dead rat in his dinner on August 13 night, the manager and cook of a well-known Bandra restaurant were detained on Monday. According to police, an FIR was filed in the case on Monday.

Anurag Dilip Singh, 40, a resident of the Dindoshi neighborhood and senior manager at a private bank in Goregaon West, went out to dinner with his friend Amin Khan, 40, on August 13 at the Papa Pancho Da Dhaba restaurant on Pali Naka in Bandra (West), according to staff at the Bandra police station.

Singh discovered an unexpected portion in the chicken dish as they were having their bhuna gosht and chicken dhaba. According to the FIR, he thoroughly examined it and was horrified to see that it was a dead rat.

The two confronted the hotel manager, Vivian Albert Siquiera,  after showing him the rat. Singh told police that the manager failed to provide a satisfactory reply.

Khan, a friend of Singh, then tweeted about the incident and included images of the rat they had in their food. He tweeted with the hashtag #MumbaiPolice under the username @AminKhanNIAZI, “@MumbaiPolice Rat found in our gravy at Papa PanchoDaDhaba near Pali Naka Bandra West. No manager or owner is ready to listen. We called the police and 100 others as well. No Help yet.”

After the police responded to the situation, Singh filed a complaint against the restaurant. “Since I believe the matter is serious, I filed a police complaint. But I am not aware if police have taken any action,” Singh said.

Early on Sunday morning, the Bandra police detained hotel manager Sequeira and the supplier of pickles and chickens.
