A tragic accident of a hit-and-run has been reported from Koregaon Park in Pune, where a biker lost his life, and three others got injuries. The accident took place at 1:30 AM opposite Tadi Guta Chowk in Koregaon Park. A luxury Audi car has crashed into two vehicles while going at a high speed.
Accident Details
It first crashes into this Activa carrying three people, before ramming into another two-wheeler with Rauf Akbar Shaikh at the wheel," said DCP (Zone 5) R Raja. Shaikh was a food delivery boy, severely injured and died while undergoing treatment at Noble Hospital. The other three have sustained injuries.
Police Investigation and Arrest
CCTV cameras from the locality played a key role in tracking the luxury car and its driver, Ayush Pradeep Tayal a 34 year old senior executive with an electronic company in Ranjangaon MIDC. Tayal is the resident of Hadapsar and was arrested from his home. His car was seized. DCP Raja said, "We have found the vehicle involved in the accident through the CCTV footage and would run a medical test on whether the driver was drunk." Cases have been registered at the Mundhwa police station under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act. Charges include rash and negligent driving, and endangering lives have been pressed. Investigations are currently undergoing.
