Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched nine new Vande Bharat trains, aimed at improving connectivity and providing world-class facilities to rail passengers. These trains will boost connectivity across eleven states in India, including Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Gujarat.
The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the increasing popularity of Vande Bharat trains, with over 11 million passengers having already journeyed on them. Currently, 25 Vande Bharat trains are operational, and with the introduction of these nine new trains, the Prime Minister expressed optimism that connectivity will soon reach every corner of the nation. He also emphasised the boost in tourism and economic activities in areas served by these trains.
PM Modi highlighted the need to modernise railway stations in line with the development of the country. India has launched its first-ever campaign to enhance and modernise railway stations, with a focus on constructing foot-over bridges, lifts, and escalators to enhance passenger convenience. The comprehensive redevelopment initiative for over 500 major stations across the country has also been initiated, and these revamped stations will be called "Amrit Bharat Stations."
The Prime Minister also emphasised the improvements in cleanliness standards in the railways and urged citizens to participate in a cleanliness campaign on October 1st as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. He encouraged everyone to support khadi and indigenous products and promote the "vocal for local" initiative from October 2nd to October 31st, coinciding with Sardar Patel's Jayanti.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that the transformations occurring within Indian Railways and society as a whole will be significant steps towards advancing India's development.
