At Rajasthan’s Indira Rasoi, pigs were seen licking the utensils. A video of pigs licking the utensils in which a meal is to be served went viral on social media. Under Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s Indira Rasoi Yojana, the viral video showing pigs licking the utensils in which food is meant to be served, received heavy criticism. The video catches glimpses of pigs licking plates in front of MSJ college in Bharatpur, Rajasthan which comes under the Congress government. The mentioned rasoi was operated by an institution named Mother Teresa.
Rajasthan Chief Minister launched a scheme to serve food to the people for Rs 8. Under the scheme, 25 Indira Rasoi was made operational with a budget of Rs. 100 crore. After the video of the pigs went viral Bharatpur municipal corporation terminated the contract with the institution and issued a notice.
The opposition BJP has demanded an investigation into this situation. The video was tweeted by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla.
“A video from Bharatpur In Rajasthan put out by many media organisations shows the reality of Congress’ schemes meant for the poor! Pigs eating from plates meant for the poor in Indira Rasoi centres! Not only is this unhygienic & disgusting but it is humiliating! Enquiry is a must,” said Poonawalla in the tweet.
The authorities have ordered an investigation into this incident and have cancelled the contract of the organisation who were running the government canteen in Bharatpur. The video emerged weeks after Ashok Gehlot had urged public officials to eat at the Indira Rasoi canteens at least once a month, stating that doing so would strengthen their bonds with the people. The canteen scheme was introduced under the resolution "Koi Bhukha Nahi Soyega."
