Passenger fakes bomb scare, Chest Pain ; Forces emergency landing of Pune-Delhi flight at Mumbai

Chaos and panic erupted, when a Pune-Delhi flight of Akasa Airline made an emergency landing at Mumbai Airport on Saturday, 21 October, after the passenger made a fake claim ' i have a bomb in my bag.'

Akasa Airlines flight, carrying 185 passengers, was then abruptly diverted to Mumbai and was immediately ordered to offload just 40 minutes after taking off from Pune Airport. This caused an early morning chaos and havoc at the Mumbai airport, as per the statement issued by the Airline.

Shortly after the incident, at 2:30 am today, a CISF officer alerted the Mumbai Police Control.  The passenger's luggage from that flight underwent a strict search by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team with police officers present. However, following a thorough investigation, no suspicious objects were discovered, confirmed a police officer.

Akasa Airlines released an official statement regarding the incident, stating that a Delhi bound Akasa Air flight QP 1148, departing from Pune at 00:07 hrs on October 21, with 185 passengers and six crew members on board, shortly after take-off received a security alert, immediately then the aircraft was redirected to Mumbai In accordance with established safety and security protocols. All necessary emergency procedures were diligently executed by the Captain and the plane landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 00:42 hrs.

The passenger who made the bomb claim, whose identity is not disclosed, complained of a chest pain and was then taken to a hospital in an ambulance immediately upon the plane's arrival at Mumbai Airport. The police were informed that a family member accompanying the passenger during the flight disclosed that the passenger had taken medication for chest pain, as per the media reports.

The flight was able to depart to the original destination- Pune at around 6 am today, as it was determined that the bomb claim was a false alarm or hoax. Mumbai Police is now indulged in a thorough investigation of this case.
