Social media influencer Orhan Awatramani, better known as Orry, is among eight individuals facing legal action for allegedly consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed on Monday (17 March 2025) that an FIR had been registered against the group for “violating the law of the land” and “hurting public sentiments.”
According to officials, Katra Police received a complaint on 15 March, stating that guests at a local hotel had been found drinking alcohol despite clear rules prohibiting its consumption due to the site’s religious significance. The accused—identified as Orhan Awatramani, Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina—allegedly ignored warnings from the hotel management regarding the ban on alcohol and non-vegetarian food within the premises.
In response, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Paramvir Singh, ordered a swift crackdown, stressing a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that could offend religious sentiments. Authorities have since launched efforts to apprehend the accused, underscoring the strict enforcement of regulations in and around the revered pilgrimage site.
