Omkareshwar Trains 60 Boatmen and Divers in Life-Saving Skills to Prevent Drowning Incidents

In a major step towards improving water safety, 60 local boatmen and divers in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh, have received specialised rescue training through a five-day camp.

The initiative focused on advanced water rescue techniques and emergency first aid. With their knowledge of the Narmada River's currents and dangerous ghats, these trained boatmen can now play a crucial role in responding to drowning emergencies.

The move aims to strengthen on-site safety and protect the thousands of devotees visiting the holy town. It could also serve as a model for other pilgrimage destinations located near rivers and water bodies.
