Odisha: According to a state government employee on deputation at Odisha Raj Bhavan, the son of governor Raghubar Das, assaulted him last week during President Droupadi Murmu's visit to Puri. But there was no official confirmation of the reported occurrence from Raj Bhawan, the Governor, or the police.
The details of the complaint filed
Baikuntha Pradhan, an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) at Raj Bhawan, made an official complaint to the governor’s secretary, Saswat Mishra, on July 8. In the complaint, he claims that the Governor's son, Lalit Kumar, had violently attacked him on July 7 and 8, when President Droupadi Murmu was visiting the Puri Raj Bhawan. The complaint stated that the alleged attack happened on July 7 around 11:45 p.m.
As per the complaint filed by Baikuntha Pradhan, Das's chef Akash Singh informed him that Lalit Kumar wanted to meet him. Once Baikuntha Pradhan reached Lalit Kumar's room, the latter allegedly subjected the government employee to verbal abuse and carried out a prolonged physical attack that included punching, kicking, and slapping, which continued until 4:30 am on July 8.
According to Baikuntha Pradhan's charge, he tried to escape and took refuge in an annexe room, but Lalit Kumar's security guards violently dragged him back. Lalit Kumar allegedly threatened the government employee, stating that if he was killed, no one would be able to help him.
Sayoj Pradhan, the wife of Baikuntha Pradhan, has urged legal action against the accused for allegedly attacking her husband.
