In two significant anti-Naxal operations, security forces achieved a major victory by killing 12 Maoists in Maharashtra, while in a separate incident in Chhattisgarh, two Special Task Force (STF) personnel were killed in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites.
In a decisive anti-Naxal operation, security forces undertook a significant offensive in Wandoli Village, located on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. This operation led to the deaths of 12 Naxal operatives and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms.
Details of the Operation
The operation commenced around 10 am and involved seven C60 parties, led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations). The assault was based on credible intelligence about the presence of 12-15 Naxals in the area.
Prolonged Exchange of Fire
A heavy exchange of fire began in the afternoon and continued intermittently for over six hours into the late evening. During the area search, security forces discovered the bodies of 12 Naxals, including DVCM Laxman Atram, also known as Vishal Atram, the in-charge of the Tipagad Dalam.

The operation yielded a significant haul of weapons, including:

Injuries Among Security Personnel
One Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) from the C60 unit and one jawan sustained bullet injuries during the encounter. Both have been evacuated and transported to Nagpur, where they are reported to be out of danger.
In a separate incident, two Special Task Force (STF) jawans were killed, and four others were injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxalites in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh.
Details of the Incident
The blast occurred on Wednesday night in the Tarrem area as a joint team of security personnel was returning from an anti-Naxalite operation in the forests near the junction of Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada districts. The operation included personnel from the STF, District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and its elite unit CoBRA. The operation was initiated following intelligence inputs indicating the presence of Naxalites from the Darbha and West Bastar divisions, as well as Military Company No. 2.
Casualties and Injuries
The blast resulted in the deaths of two STF constables:

Four other personnel sustained injuries in the blast.
Response and Medical Evacuation
Reinforcements were quickly deployed to the area following the incident. The injured personnel were evacuated for medical treatment and will be airlifted to the state capital Raipur for further medical care.
