Mysuru came alive with a vibrant 'Walk for Wildlife' during the 69th Wildlife Week celebration. Led by Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra, this event, organized by Mysuru Zoo, aimed to ignite awareness about the significance of wildlife conservation. Participants included students, Forest Department officials, zoo staff, volunteers, and dedicated members of NGOs.
To commemorate Wildlife Week, Mysuru Zoo hosted an array of activities to promote wildlife conservation. These included a captivating photography exhibition, an engaging essay writing competition, a lively spot painting contest, and thought-provoking elocution sessions on various wildlife themes.
The painting competition, themed 'Unite for Big Cats,' witnessed the creative talents of 235 students from different educational institutions. Meanwhile, the photography competition showcased the skills of 52 photographers, with a stunning collection of 128 photographs capturing both in-situ and ex-situ moments. The Canara Bank of Mysuru Zoo branch generously sponsored ₹20,000 in cash prizes for the winners.
On October 4, International Zoo Keepers' Day will be celebrated with team-building activities and games for the dedicated animal keepers. They will also enjoy an outing to the Ranganatittu Bird Sanctuary. For nature enthusiasts, the Nature Walk will be held at Karanji Lake Nature Park on October 5 and 6, celebrating biodiversity.

As the week unfolds, an elocution competition for Class 8 to 10 students and an essay competition for 10th and PU students will be held on October 7. The elocution topic is 'Climate change and its impact on wildlife,' while the essay theme explores the 'Implications of plastic on wildlife.'
The grand finale of Wildlife Week will take place on October 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the zoo's amphitheatre, where the deserving winners of various competitions will be honoured with well-deserved prizes.
