Details of the Accident

The police swiftly apprehended the teenage driver, along with two others, including the SUV's owner, Iqbal Jivani, 48. A case has been registered against all involved parties.

The victim, Navin Vaishnaw, who was in the middle of his milk distribution rounds, died after his two-wheeler was struck by a Mahindra Scorpio traveling on the wrong side of the road. Following the collision, the SUV crashed into an electric pole. Despite sustaining injuries, the teenage driver attempted to flee the scene but was eventually caught by the police.

Vaishnaw was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His uncle, Omprakash Vaishnav, 42, filed a complaint leading to the detention of the minor driver by Vanrai police. Authorities have sent the driver's blood samples for testing to determine if alcohol was involved.

Legal Actions Taken

The SUV owner, Iqbal Jeewani, was arrested for negligently allowing a minor to operate the vehicle. Jeewani’s son, Mohammed Iqbal, a friend of the accused, was also taken into custody. The minor is expected to appear before the child welfare committee.

The police have charged the involved parties under several sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the Motor Vehicles Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

According to police sources, the minor and his friend were part of a group returning from a party at Royal Palms. The accused driver is reportedly a resident of Jogeshwari.

This tragic event follows a similar case in Pune a few months earlier. In that incident, a 17-year-old allegedly drunk driver crashed a Porsche into a bike, killing two IT engineers, Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, on May 19. The teenager involved in the Pune incident sparked outrage after being granted bail shortly after the crash, with conditions that included writing an essay on road safety.
