Speaking to the media on Monday, Nakhwa demanded stringent punishment for the driver, stating that his wife could have been saved if the car had stopped.

- The couple was returning from Crawford Market after purchasing fish when the incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday.
- They were travelling at 30-35 km/h when a speeding car hit them from behind, causing them to land on the car's bonnet.
- When the driver braked, Pradeep fell off, but Kaveri became trapped under the front wheel.
- Pradeep tried to stop the car by banging on the bonnet, but the driver continued, dragging Kaveri towards the west end of the sea link.
- The distraught husband ran behind the car, pleading with the driver to stop.
Pradeep claimed the car was driven by a 24-year-old who owned the vehicle, with another individual in the passenger seat.
"I have two children. We lost everything. My wife is gone, but the accused should get stringent punishment for the accident," Pradeep Nakhwa said, his voice filled with grief and anger.
